Board Sets Special Meeting on Village Manager Changes

On Tuesday, Aug. 30, trustees will devote an entire special meeting to the two ordinances that govern the powers and duties of the village manager.

For months, village trustees have been promising an open discussion about the powers and duties of the village manager.

On Aug. 30, they’re scheduled to have it.

On Tuesday, trustees agreed to call a special meeting for that date, specifically to discuss the two ordinances that govern the village manager position. That conversation was scheduled for Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole session, but the meeting lasted for nearly four hours before arriving at that point on the agenda.

Some trustees seemed ready to press onward, despite the late hour—it was roughly 10:45 p.m. when the topic was raised—but the consensus was to set the special meeting.

“This is a two-hour discussion all by itself,” said Trustee Matt Brolley.

“We need to have this discussion, whether we have it now or next week,” said Trustee Stan Bond.
