Abe & Mary Todd Lincoln Coming to Montgomery

from Debbie Buchanan, Village of Montgomery

Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln presenters Max and Donna Daniels of Wheaton will present "An Evening with Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln at the White House" at 10:00a.m. on July 8, 2014 at the Montgomery Village Hall.  The program is free and open to the public.

The 60-minute presentation is set on April 14, 1865 at the end of the Civil War and in the hours before the Lincolns leave for Ford's Theatre, where the president is shot and killed.

The characters reflect on their courtship and marriage, the births of their children, the family's personal traumas, Lincoln's political career and the tumultuous Civil War years.

The Danielses have been portraying the Lincolns professionally since 1988. The couple research and write original scripts.

They are past vice presidents of the National Association of Lincoln Presenters and have received the association's awards for Best Abraham, Best Mary, Best Abraham and Mary Lincoln Team and Lincoln Legend.  They make more than 200 appearances annually at schools, libraries and other organizations.

This program is offered by the Village of Montgomery as part of its Senior Citizen Program.  There is no charge and the event is handicap accessible.

The monthly Senior Lunch and activity for ages 55 and up will begin at 11:00 a.m. after the presentation.  There is a $4 charge for the lunch and pre-registration for lunch is required by July 2nd.

Bingo will be sponsored by The Tillers.  For additional information, please call the Montgomery Village Hall at (630) 896-8080 ext. 1559.
