Teens Charged in Montgomery Shooting

Two face weapons charges, while a third is charged with juvenile parole violation and unlawful contact with a gang member, police said.

Montgomery Police, the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force and the Kendall County State's Attorney's office continue to investigate a Feb. 11 shooting in Montgomery, according to police Chief Daniel Meyers.

Meyers said two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old face charges in connection with the incident. Police responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle in front a home in the 2800 block of Frances Lane at around 7:43 a.m. Tuesday.

Residents of the home chased the suspect vehicle, resulting in a crash between the two cars near Route 31 and Route 30. The suspect vehicle fled the scene, but police were able to apprehend the three suspects, according to Meyers.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and police reportedly recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the incident. Shell casings were also found in the 2800 block of Frances, police said.

Meyers said 18-year-old Saul Muro, of the 0-100 block of Durango, Boulder Hill, is charged with two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Following the crash, Muro was arrested and taken to the Kendall County jail.

A 17-year-old from Aurora, who was taken to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center, is also charged with two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, police said.

Another 17-year-old from Boulder Hill was taken to the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles and will be charged with unlawful contact with a gang member and juvenile parole violation, according to Meyers.

Meyers said police believe two earlier incidents in the 2800 block of Frances are also connected to the shooting. On Feb. 7, residents reported that someone broke the glass on their front storm door. On Feb. 10, a day before the shooting, the windows on a vehicle parked on the the street were broken out, he said.

Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call the Montgomery Police Department 630 897-8707 x 3300 or the Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
