A 33-year-old Sandwich woman was beaten and sexually assaulted in a cornfield Tuesday by a uniformed, masked man who pulled her over in a blue car with a flashing red and blue light, police said.
The woman told police she was driving on Griswold Springs Road about 0.25 miles west of Little Rock Road when a man driving alone in a blue Ford Crown Victoria pulled her over, according to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. After walking to her vehicle, the man pulled a mask over his face, pulled out a handgun and ordered the woman to walk to the cornfield next to the road. There, he beat and sexually assaulted her.
The police were called at 6:47 p.m., and the victim was taken to Valley West Hospital in Sandwich. The offender left the scene headed east on Griswold Springs Road.
The woman told police the offender is about 5 foot, 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds with an average build. He is a white man with a tan or a light-skinned Hispanic. He was wearing "a police, fire or security type uniform," according to the news release.

The sheriff's office reminds motorists that are being stopped by an UNMARKED vehicle that they do not believe to be a law enforcement vehicle to proceed to a public area or lighted intersection and/or call 911 to verify that is it a law enforcement officer behind them prior to stopping. Motorists must obey the speed limit and stop for any traffic control devices while traveling to a public area and must be ready to explain to the law enforcement officer why they did not immediately stop.
