Drunk Driver Hits House, Drives Into Pond in Montgomery

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Friday.

A drunk driver crashed into a Montgomery home in the 100 block of Pine Ridge before ending up in a pond nearby Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m., according to Todd Sherman, of Northern Illinois FireGround Fireground.

Montgomery police said the man drove through the side of the condo and then into a retention pond.

Eric B. Vazquez, 22, of the 100 block of Maple Ridge Lane, Montgomery, was arrested and charged with DUI, Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, said Montgomery police.

Vazquez reportedly told the homeowner he had been drinking and his home was on the other side of the pond, according to Sherman.

Vazquez posted bond and is due in court on Nov. 27 in St. Charles.

Homeowner Andrea Schmidt told ABC that she, her husband and their dogs are fine.

Fire crews towed the car out of the pond.
