Monday, Feb. 21

Black ice, closed bridge

The Montgomery Police Department responded to seven car crashes and provided assistance to four other motorists during Monday night’s snowfall. Freezing rain earlier in the day had left the roads slick, and police closed the westbound lane of the Route 30 bridge over the Fox River for about 20 minutes, starting around 6:30 p.m., according to Det. Sgt. Greg Sullivan.

The seven crashes, according to Montgomery Police: Douglas and Montgomery roads, 6:54 p.m.; Route 30 and Lakewood Creek Drive, 7:15 p.m.; Griffin Drive and Route 30, 7:44 p.m.; the Route 30 bridge, 7:50 p.m.; Mayfield and Hagman roads, 8 p.m.; another on the Route 30 bridge, 8:30 p.m.; and Route 30 and Douglas Road, 9:35 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 19

Drunken driving

Jesus Renteria, 26, of Montgomery, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop at 2 a.m. at Montgomery Road and Park Drive, Montgomery Police said. He was also cited for illegally transporting alcohol, driving without insurance, and failing to display a driver’s license.

Thursday, Feb. 17

All for a good parking space

William Nakulski, 60, of Yorkville, was charged with unlawful use of a handicap placard after he used a deceased relative’s license plate to park in a handicap parking space at 12 noon in the 2000 block of Orchard Road, Montgomery Police said.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

Drunken driving, part deux

Timothy Gunderson, 33, of Montgomery, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop at 1 a.m. at Route 30 and Blackberry Road, Montgomery Police said. Gunderson was also cited for improper lane usage, speeding, and having a blood alcohol content over .08 percent.
