Saturday, June 18

Proof those alarms work

Someone tried to break into a home in the 900 block of Amethyst Lane around 12:50 a.m. The burglar alarm sounded, and a witness said they saw an “unknown individual” fleeing the area before police arrived, according to the police report. Nothing was reported stolen, police said.

If that is your real name

Juan Martinez, 23, of the 500 block of North Avenue in Aurora, was charged with obstructing identification after he gave a fake name to police during a traffic stop at 3:10 a.m. at Route 31 and Jericho Road, Montgomery police said. Martinez was originally pulled over for improper lane use, police said.

Stolen GPS

Someone broke into a car parked in the 2400 block of Concord Drive around 1 p.m. and stole a Garmin GPS unit, Montgomery police said.

Friday, June 17

Aggravated DUI

Maximo Aguirre, 59, of the 1000 block of Elliot Avenue in Aurora, was charged with felony aggravated drunken driving after a traffic stop at midnight on State Street and Montgomery Road, Montgomery police said. Aguirre was also cited for improper lane use, driving on a revoked license, and illegal transportation of alcohol, due to the open bottle in his car, police said. He was initially pulled over for broken taillights, police said.

What did that car ever do to you?

Someone punctured two tires, smashed out the windshield and damaged the side mirror of a car parked in the 2600 block of Jenna Circle sometime before 4:30 a.m., Montgomery police said.

Young thief thinks big

A 17-year-old man was charged with retail theft after employees at a store in the 2000 block of Orchard Road saw him leaving with a 42-inch LCD television and an ottoman without paying for them, Montgomery police said.

Police seek cemetery vandals

Montgomery police are looking for information on an act of vandalism that occurred at Riverside Cemetery on River Street sometime Thursday night. Vandals tipped over 30 headstones, causing some of them to break, and smeared mud onto other cemetery property. Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous tip line at 630-897-8707, ext. 3300, or call Aurora Area CrimeStoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to CrimeStoppers remain anonymous, and are eligible for monetary rewards.
