Pocket cosmetics

A 15-year-old girl was charged with retail theft after employees of a store in the 1900 block of Douglas Road saw her conceal $31 of cosmetic products and leave the store without paying at 4:45 p.m., Montgomery police said.

Saturday, Dec. 31

Felonies and a punctured lung

Valentin Galvez, 29, and Esmeralda Ferrer, 27, both of the 200 block of Keck Avenue in Aurora, were charged with felony aggravated battery and felony mob action after a fight at 2:10 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Broadway, Montgomery police said. Galvez is accused of hitting a 31-year-old in the face, causing him to fall down, while Ferrer is accused of kicking that same victim, causing a punctured lung and broken ribs, police said. The victim was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, and no further information was available.

Friday, Dec. 30

Aggravated battery

Jay Frisch, 28, of the 0-99 block of Woodcliff Road in Boulder Hill, was charged with felony aggravated domestic battery, felony aggravated battery, and misdemeanor domestic battery after police responded to a disturbance at a convenience store in the 1300 block of South Douglas Road at 1:10 a.m., Montgomery police said. Frisch is accused of causing bodily harm to two women, police said.

Scrooges on patrol

Someone cut Christmas lights and damaged a lawn ornament in the front yard of a home in the 2900 block of Aberdeen Drive sometime before 9:50 a.m., Montgomery police said.

Stealing away

Rebecca Oliver, 33, of the 1000 block of Edgelawn Drive in Plano, was charged with retail theft after employees of a store in the 2000 block of Orchard Road saw her conceal $50 in merchandise and leave without paying at around 4:35 p.m., Montgomery police said.

Thursday, Dec. 29

Hit and run

Someone struck a traffic light at Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive in Oswego Township around 12:40 p.m. and then left the scene, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. The damage is estimated at $3,000 to $5,000, police said. Police are still investigating the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 630-553-7500.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

Possession

Jose Luis Monjaraz, 17, of the 400 block of High Street in Aurora, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of between 2.5 and 10 grams of marijuana, and consumption of alcohol by a minor after a traffic stop at Route 25 and Bereman Road in Oswego Township at 2:16 a.m., Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. Monjaraz was also charged with improper lane usage, driving without a license and illegal transportation of alcohol, police said. His passenger, Andrew Johnson, 21, of Minnesota, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and with illegal transportation of alcohol, police said.
