Police Blotter: 85-Year-Old Man Wields Pepper Spray, Gets Felony Charge

Been caught stealing

Natwina Thompson, 31, of the 300 block of Oakwood Avenue, and Donna Thompson, of the 10,000 block of Lilac Lane in Willowbrook, were charged with retail theft after employees of a store in the 2000 block of Orchard Road saw them conceal items and leave without paying at 12:20 p.m., Montgomery police said.

Christine Parkin, 19, of the 2700 block of Jenna Circle in Boulder Hill, was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 9:59 p.m. at Route 30 and Orchard Road, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. Parkin was initially stopped for failing to dim her bright lights, and for having a cracked tail light, police said. When police searched her car, they found a glass drug pipe, a grinder and a small amount of marijuana, police said.

Friday, Sept. 30

Caught breaking in

Rene Muro, 19, of the 300 block of Beach Street in Aurora, was charged with residential burglary after a resident in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue reported someone trying to break into a home around 12:35 p.m., Montgomery police said. Police located Muro and a 15-year-old boy from Aurora not far from the crime scene, and arrested them, according to the report. The boy was released to his parents, pending charges, police said.

Lock your doors

Someone entered an unlocked home in the 1800 block of Ness Way sometime between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and stole two laptop computers, Montgomery police said.

Thursday, Sept. 29

Senior moment?

Howard Jones, 85, of the 1900 block of Lakeside Drive, was charged with felony aggravated battery after he allegedly fired pepper spray into the face of another person after a traffic altercation at Seasons Ridge Boulevard and Lakeside Drive around 11:10 a.m., Montgomery police said. The recipient of the pepper spray was treated for minor eye and skin irritation at the scene, and released.
