Plano Area Man Accused of Assaulting 5-Year-Old

The 26-year-old man was babysitting the girl when Kendall County Sheriff's police said he criminally sexually assaulted her.

A 26-year-old Plano area man sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl while he was babysitting her in his home, Kendall County Sheriff's police said in a news release.

Thomas Haring, of the 17000 block of Frazier Road, was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and criminal sexual abuse. The more serious charge typically is punishable with between six and 30 years in prison; probation is not an option.

Haring was a friend of the child's mother. Police said the incident happened Nov. 19.

An arrest warrant was issued for Haring on July 5. He was arrested in Chicago on July 10 and posted $25,000 bond the next day, sheriff's police said.

Cannot certain comments, filled with vulgarity, be kept away from the viewing public? This is a hideous story, but the language of some people leave me with a strong distaste for opening Patch. Like the awful comment connected with that cartoon. Though not officially showing up below the article, they still hit between the eyes on first opening Patch! Please..... do something to stop the obscenities....

Oh, good. That comment has disappeared. As did the other one......I'm certain some people know what I'm referring to. Others may not. But thankyou.

It's good to see active involvement and prompt response from The Patch editors when such crud infests the comment threads. Often, the monitoring is sporadic at best or scattershot at worst on many forums, public comment section from media publications, etc If the TOS is to be taken seriously, it needs to be effectively followed and appropriate actions taken when violations or potential ones appear. Not every 'offensive' comment is a TOS violation, but there is a line where measures need to be taken. Just my nickel's worth of opinion

Looks like Patch found the real criminal and prosecuted him fairly.
