Montgomery Police Release Results of Memorial Day Crackdown

From May 9 to 26, 2014, Montgomery police conducted an IDOT-supported enforcement to remind motorists to buckle up both day and night during the Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization.

The Montgomery Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in this annual effort to get more motorists to buckle up - and save more lives.

During the mobilization, Montgomery police issued:

  • 55 speeding citations
  • 14 seat belt citations
  • 13 uninsured motorist citations
  • 8 cell phone use citations
  • 7 warrant arrests
  • 3 suspended/revoked license arrests
  • 3 no valid driver’s license arrests
  • 2 DUI arrests

The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in the Village of Montgomery, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt, police said.

“Our officers are committed to enforcing traffic laws to keep the motoring public safe throughout the entire year. If you are driving impaired or any occupants of the vehicle are not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation,” said Deputy Chief A. Sanders.
