Montgomery Police Chief to Head Kane County Chiefs Association

Chief Dan Meyers was named president of the organization in a ceremony earlier this month.

Montgomery’s police chief has a new title: president. 

Chief Dan Meyers has been named president of the Kane County Chiefs of Police Association, village officials announced Monday. He was sworn in during a ceremony on Jan. 19.

Meyers served as vice president of the organization during 2011, with outgoing president Chief Carol Lussky of the Pingree Grove Police Department. Meyers’ term will last for one year.

The Kane County Chiefs are dedicated to increasing cooperation between police departments throughout the county and the state. They work closely with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office, and they support the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force and the Kane County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team.

The association also supports Special Olympics through fundraising, and organizes a yearly Officer of the Year banquet. They also sponsor a memorial service for fallen officers each year during Police Week.

Meyers was congratulated at a Montgomery Village Board meeting last week. Trustee Matt Brolley said this appointment shows the high quality of the staff working for the village.

“This is good for Montgomery, and it’s good for Kane County,” he said.
