A Boulder Hill man was charged with drug possession and injuring a police officer following a retail theft incident at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
John Abell, 47, of the 0-100 block of Aldon Road in Boulder Hill, was charged with retail theft and aggravated battery to a police officer following an incident in the 1900 block of S. Douglas Road.
Police said Abell took items from a store without paying and struggled with officers after leaving the store. One officer received minor injuries.

Abell was also charged with resisting a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Police said they found a crack rock in Abell's possession.
