Montgomery Area Schools Closed Monday

Forecasts that predict Monday's temperature to drop severely are prompting school officials to cancel classes.

Kaneland McDole Elementary School in Montgomery and all other District 302 schools will be closed Monday due to the severe cold predicted to hit the Chicago area.

Officials said they have yet to decide on whether to close down for Tuesday, but will continue to watch the weather and alert the community if the closure continues through Tuesday.

All Oswego 308 schools had a scheduled teacher institute day and also will be closed.

School activities at all of the schools are cancelled, as well.

The temperature is expected to drop into the negative double-digits overnight Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Note: An earlier version of this post had a headline that indicated District 308 schools were closed due to snow. The district already had a scheduled teacher institute day.
