Body Found in Montgomery Identified as Male, 'Very Decomposed'

Kendall County Coroner Ken Toftoy said Tuesday that autopsy results on the body likely will be available Wednesday. 

The body is a male, but no race has been determined.

"The body is very decomposed," Toftoy said. 

As for how long the body had been laying in the grassy area behind the Montgomery Walmart, Toftoy said, "I guess a while since he's wearing a sweatshirt."

Montgomery Police released the following information late Monday afternoon in hopes the public may be able to help identifyi the body. 

"(The) subject was wearing a black sweatshirt with “U.S. Army Est. 1775” in yellow writing on it, gray sweatpants, black size 9 Nike shoes with white swoosh logo on them, and a black Starter baseball cap.  Anyone with information of possible identification is advised to please contact Detective Sergeant Ricedorf #49 at 630/897-8707 Ext. 2240."

A dead body was discovered near Orchard Road and Route 30 at about 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers said a landscaping crew found the body behind the Walmart building in the 2000 block of Orchard Road.

Meyers said no foul play is suspected at this time, but an investigation is underway. The body has been removed by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office. Meyers said it could not be determined yet whether the body is that of a man or a woman.

An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday, Meyers said.

Meyers said identification of the body is pending notification of family members.

The Illinois State Police also are assisting in the investigation, Meyers said.
