Assistant Principal Pleads Guilty to DUI Charge

John Francis pleaded guilty to driving under the influence on May 24. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, but that was dismissed, according to Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis.

A District 308 assistant principal has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis.

John Francis, assistant principal at and elementary schools, was charged with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia in March, according to . Francis, 31, of Yorkville, was stopped at Route 34 and Rickard Drive after failing to signal, and told police he was coming from a friend’s house, where he’d had a few drinks, police said.

Police found a hitter box and pipe used for smoking marijuana under a front seat, according to Rob Sherwood, public information officer for Oswego police.

On May 24, Francis pleaded guilty to the DUI charge, Weis said, and the paraphernalia and traffic charges were dropped as part of a standard plea deal. Since this is Francis’ first offense, Weis said, he was given 12 months’ court supervision, and a $1,750 fine.

Kristine Liptrot, District 308 spokeswoman, said that Francis remains in his position as assistant principal. While she said she cannot disclose what disciplinary actions were taken, Francis is following all the requirements and procedures, she said.

According to the district’s website, Francis has been with District 308 for six years. Before being promoted to assistant principal, he taught fourth and fifth grade at Old Post Elementary School. Most recently, he served as an administration facilitator on the district’s boundary committee.

And by the way John I have and I still say mind your business! Clean up your own house before you try to clean up others. How would you like for someone to blow your name around like you're a nobody and sit back and watch yourself be destroyed by people that have a house full of hidden mess. Do you drink, beat your wife or husband, do you stare at little children in an manner that will be deemed as unfavorable, do you spank your children, do you go to neighborhood gatherings and stop them from having alcohol, do you do anything besides talk crap about others and try to get people to rally against others? Assistant Principal now, what's later? Let's rally against kids riding their bicycles in the neighborhood, let's stop family dinners and oh wait john, why don't we get a group together to monitor undesirables are moving into our neighborhood? I laugh at busy bodies like you john because with all the things that you and the let's hang him mob could be doing john you choose to bang the head of a man that made a mistake. I wonder how many mistakes you have made and just got away with them, but do trust and know that our wonderful police will catch if not you, someone that you know! Just you wait! Your day is coming. Just wait. Sirens and then you get to give your script! Shut up and do what it seems that you do best and that's complain! We've heard enough about you anyway. Now, fix your own home!

ok stop complaing you got me yes i drink yes , but the difference here is that even without a college education i'm smart enough to make the right decison to call a cab,or call a friend. you see i'm not against his drinking so much or even the drug stuff, it's the decision that was made. to chance it. Now what decisions will he make in the future that affect the kids at old post and huntclub will he just chance it and hope for the best. My guess is yes and hope to not get caught. You sound like a cheerleader for him but you see i didn't get arrested for dui he did. So i'm entitled to my opion i share in the payment of his salary if character counts he should step aside and practice what he preaches. In your last rant is sounds like you want me arrested let them I've got nothing to hide i like how you try to switch topics and make me the bad guy. Remind yourself we are taking about someone who has our kids futres in hand.
