Assistant Principal Charged with Drug Paraphernalia Possession, DUI

John Francis has worked in District 308 for six years.

John Francis, assistant principal at and  elementary schools, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 2 a.m. Saturday, according to an report.

Police said Francis, 31, of Yorkville, was stopped at Route 34 and Rickard Drive after failing to signal. He told police he was coming from a friend’s house, where he'd had a few drinks, said Rob Sherwood, Oswego police media relations officer.

Upon searching his vehicle, police found a hitter box and pipe used for smoking marijuana under a front seat, Sherwood said. Francis posted bond at the Oswego Police Department and was given an April 25 court date.

Kristine Liptrot, District 308 spokeswoman, said Francis remains in his position with the district, pending the outcome of the charges.

“We are aware of the situation and we will wait until the conclusion of the case to determine what disciplinary action will be taken,” she said.

According to the district’s website, Francis has been with the district for six years. Before being promoted to assistant principal, he taught fourth- and fifth-graders at Old Post Elementary School. Most recently, he served as an administration facilitator on the district’s boundary committee.

Kat, kill the crap! The children wouldn't know anything if you all wouldn't stand around on school property talking about it in front of them. Now as far as his disciplinary action is concerned let the real professionals make the sound decisions. It's crazy how it just rolls off the tongue so easily to fire a man because of a mistake and since we are using the discipline code on individuals why don't we start to use the slander code of ourselves and let's see how it feels to have others throw us into a blazing fire, but Nooooo this will not ever happen because we live such disciplined lives and we have no hang-ups. Also, owning up to something doesn't mean that he has to stand before us and get our approval. You nor any of us are perfect and I think should be really mindful when throwing rocks at windows that are already broken. Why not try to keep these conversations from the children and keep them within adults hearing it only or we can just do this, STOP TALKING SO MUCH AS IF WE ARE TO TO FIRE THIS MAN! Let him do his job and if he's not drinking in the school mind your business! You guys are starting to really make me sick of you all. Stop acting like you are the the law and the law to handle this matter.

So this about you right! Sorry about your loss but let's be fair here; you have never had a beer or a glass of wine anywhere ever and had to drive somewhere. This is not about you!

Thank you so much Debbie B because I thought this place was better than this. I'm sure no one wants themselves or their family members being hit like this.

Oh so now the judge and the lawyers have a drinking problem as well. Hell you and so many others drink wine and still take care of children. Just wait until the Oktoberfest and lets see who has a glass or a hidden can/bottle. Social drinkers and 99% will be indulging.

Thanks Javier and going to many gatherings over the past 5 years here, I have found that several people complaining right here have several glasses of wine and take in many beers and yet they still walk back to their homes with their children. What is that! Oh wait, let's call the cops on everyone that drinks a glass of wine or drinks a beer at the next function. You all are simple!
