Ask A Deputy: What Police Department Do I Call for Non-Emergency Situations?

Any questions about laws or police activities of the Sheriff's office can be emailed through the Ask a Deputy program.

The following release was issued by the Kendall County Sheriff's office through the Ask a Deputy program:

Jen asked: “I live on the border of the county and the Village of Oswego and am confused which department I should call for non-emergency situations.  What areas in the county do you protect, are there any areas that you don't protect?”

Calls for service in Kendall County go to a central dispatch center called Kencom that handles the calls for most of the municipalities and all unincorporated portions of Kendall County. Kencom handles emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Kencom will dispatch the appropriate law enforcement officer based on the area of the call for service.

Calls for service within the city limits of Oswego, Montgomery, Plano, Sandwich, Montgomery, Aurora, Joliet, and Minooka will get an officer from those jurisdictions to respond.  Areas such as unincorporated Boulder Hill, Bristol, Newark, Millington, Platteville, Lisbon, and Millbrook will get a deputy sheriff to respond.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office handles all of the calls that are in the unincorporated portions of Kendall County and in incorporated portions that do not have a police department. Deputies do have jurisdiction throughout all of Kendall County and are sworn to protect it.
