Can We Help Homeless Dad?

My heart breaks for the homeless dad in Oswego. Who is he? How can we help?

Have you seen the homeless dad around Aurora/Oswego? I've seen him on several occasions near the intersection of 34 and 30 with a sign that says "Will Work For Baby Food". This broke my heart!!

This morning he was at Wolf's Crossing and 30 and his sign read "3 Children, Homeless, Anything will help" (or something like that). I was stopped at the light headed to work and gave him some money. It wasn't much, only a few dollars, but it made me feel good. He was kind and very thankful! Although bundled up, I noticed how young he looked.

Does anyone know about this man and his family? Isn't there something our community can do for him?

so do we have actual proof that this is a scam situation or we are just assuming.? Just wondering for future reference with this particular individual.

Robyn - I have met your sister and helped out with a small donation. I'm assuming the baby is with them because of his age? I have a lot of concerns about him because when I stopped by their hotel room, it reeked of cigarette smoke. Also, does she really have cancer? I'm not asking because I'm nosey; I'm asking because people want to help, but also want to be clear on what the situation is.

Tina, I commend you for helping the family out, God bless you, but is it truly smart to think that one type of addict is better than the next?! Drug abuse is plaguing the youth & the young adults in our community and no one wants to accept that it is a true epidemic out here! Things are bad in this area (with regards to drugs), maybe we as a community better figure a way to get these drugs off the streets and then maybe we wouldn't have so many people in this mans age group addicted and falling into these types of lifestyles. I am truly scared to see what things will be like in another 10 years at the rate we are going!!!

Just got done with my deliveries today and guess what I witnessed once again. A white work truck with 4 individuals inside who parked their truck and got out, all dressed in brown Carharts and work boots. They each pulled a brown folded sign out of their jackets and proceeded to the curbs, one along 34, another by Chase and the other 2 went to Walmart. Each sign said something different, wife with cancer, kids sick, homeless, etc... They did this for a total of 30 mins and I can't tell you the number of people who threw money out. As my coworker and I ate our lunch we were floored at what we saw. When the 4 came back to their vehicle we commented on what they were doing. They laughed and said if people are stupid enough to give its their own faults. They said they get a free lunch and toke on the people of Oswego. I might add that they think really highly of the women in this town, nothing like a bunch of rich bxxxxxx's to hand over the cash. Find out they do this at least 3 times a week and it wasn't Nate this time. I really wish the police could do something about this. Not only are they ripping the people of Oswego off, they are driving some customers and tax dollars away from this community.get this scum off the streets once and for all.
