The skies were grey and threatening, the air held the crispness of a mid-fall day, but Mother Nature had nothing on Oswego and our sense of community when the Wolves hosted the Panthers for the annual Cross Town Classic this past Friday night.
Almost 5,000 loyal football fans joined together for the eighth annual meeting of Oswego vs. Oswego East High School and filled the stadium of Oswego East to the brim, with hundreds of fans filling the fence space circling the field.
The planning for this event is a daunting task and I want to offer my congratulations to principals Jeff Craig, Mike Wayne and their teams, in coordination with the Oswego Police and Fire Departments and all the volunteers, who flawlessly executed the logistics tied to this annual fall event. From coordinating advance ticket sales, to the logistics tied to parking/shuttle service, to stocking the Concessions Stands, to security, everything was well planned and allowed everyone to enjoy the game.
Events like the Cross Town Classic are examples of what makes this community so special. When 5,000 people show up on a cold and raining Friday night to celebrate our children, what could be more special! My congratulations and thanks to all those involved.
