Come Watch the First Presidential Debate with Patch

We're hosting a viewing party at Kendall Grille starting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

They say all politics is local.

We'd like to explore how national politics affect local businesses and residents (and hopefully foster a few good, clean political discussions), so Oswego, Montgomery and Yorkville Patches are hosting a debate viewing party.

Please join us starting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Kendall Grille (formerly Kendall Pub) in downtown Yorkville.

Several televisions in the back of the restaurant will show candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama discussing domestic policy - including the state of our economy. Jim Lehrer, Executive Editor of the PBS NewsHour, will moderate the debate from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Central Time at the University of Denver in Denver, CO, according to the Commission on Presidential Debates.

We'd love to have local business and civic leaders share their thoughts informally, but you're welcome to just listen and network as well. We'll have a variety of snacks and sodas on hand, but if you're watching the debates at home, don't hesitate to share your reactions on the Patch comments section.

Questions? Shoot Yorkville Patch Editor Jillian Duchnowski an e-mail at jillian.duchnowski@patch.com.

If you're watching from home, you might want to check out these "debate Bingo cards" with key words likely to come up during the debate. I thought they were cute. (Thanks to Amy Cesich for pointing them out to me!) http://wnymedia.net/2012/10/200-unique-2012-presidential-debate-bingo-cards/
