You Could Win Free Music From Andrea Dawn

The Aurora singer/songwriter is giving away a free copy of her new album, Theories of How We Can Be Friends. Leave your name in the comments to enter!

We’ve been giving a lot of stuff away recently, and we’re not about to stop. This week, we want you to meet Aurora singer-songwriter Andrea Dawn. And if you’re lucky, you’ll get a copy of her new album for free.

Andrea is a piano-playing songstress with the voice of an angel. You may have heard her on both Made in Aurora albums released last year, or you may have seen her playing locally, either on her own or with her band, The New Automatics. For the last year and a half, Andrea’s been working on her first album, and now it’s here.

It’s called Theories of How We Can Be Friends, and if we may say so, it’s a lovely thing. Andrea said she wanted to make a million-dollar record on a thousand-dollar budget, and that ambition comes through in the big arrangements – the strings, the horns – on these 10 tracks. And yet, the album is intimate at the same time. On some songs, you’ll feel like Andrea is right there in your living room, singing her heart out.

To celebrate the release of the album, Andrea and her band will play Bistro Thai, 305 West State St. in Geneva, on Friday, April 20, at 10 p.m. Saturday is Record Store Day, and Bistro Thai’s neighbor, Kiss the Sky Record Store, will open at midnight. And they’ll have copies of Andrea’s album on sale.

But one of you reading this now won’t have to shell out cash. We’ve got a copy of Theories to give away to one lucky reader. To enter, just leave your name in a comment below. We’ll do a drawing at Andrea’s show on Friday, and the winner will get a free CD.
