Weekender: Scare Up Some Halloween Fun

Our weekly look at what's going on this weekend. Naturally, it's all ghouls and goblins this week, as Halloween is right around the corner.

Friday, Oct. 28


When: 2 to 8 p.m.
Where: St. Paul’s Lutheran School, 85 S. Constitution Drive, Aurora
Why go: There will be plenty of kids’ clothes, Halloween costumes, furniture, baby items and other things on sale, proceeds to benefit the school.
Cost: Depends on what you buy!


When: 6 p.m.
Where: Oswego YMCA, 160 E. Washington St.
Why go: Have a scary good time with your kids at the Y's Annual Halloween Party! Games, treats, contests and MORE as you stay warm and toasty inside the Oswego YMCA
Cost: Free to members, $3 for non-members, parents get in free.

Saturday, Oct. 29


When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Go Dog Go, 100 S. Main St., Oswego
Why go: The colorful canines of Rover Rescue are excited to meet and greet the public in hopes they will all find new "furever" homes.
Cost: Free, adoption fees apply

When: 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: Oswego High School, 4250 Rt. 71. 
Why go: Kids ages six months to 10 years can attend this event, which will feature games, treasures and tricks and treats. Kids should wear their Halloween costumes. Storybook characters will attend and sign autographs
Cost: $4 per child, parents get in free

When: 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora
Why go: Halloween fun for the whole family, sponsored by the Fox Valley Park District.
Cost: $10 per resident family of four ($3 each additional child); $15 per non-resident family of four ($5 each additional child)

Sunday, Oct. 30


When: 9 a.m. 
Where: , 160 E. Washington St.
Why go: Compete in the first annual Halloween themed 5K through the streets of Oswego.
Cost: Registration is $40 and includes a long sleeve dri-fit running shirt. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Kendall County Food Pantry

Monday, Oct. 31

Trick or Treating
When: 4 to 8 p.m.
Where: Your neighborhood!
Why go: Are you kidding? Do you want free candy or don't you?
Cost: Do you have your costume? Then you’re all set.
