Officials said an estimated two million children are currently enslaved in the sex slave industry. Fueled by demand, the industry for innocent children grows, leaving countless young victims in its path. Focused efforts on stopping the demand have the power to stop child slavery.

“Demand is like an insatiable disease, if not stopped it will continue to spread,” said Ruth D. Hill, executive director of SCTNow.

SCTNow is aiming its efforts at programs and activities concentrated on awareness, advocacy and action—efforts they believe will help stop demand.

One such effort from Kristin Weis, SCTNow ambassador in Tulsa, Okla., successfully led to the passing of a law that mandates massage parlors to enforce stricter licensing requirements. Her efforts, combined with law enforcement's due diligence, have already resulted in three arrests.

This Sept. 22, SCTNow invites the community to walk at Lakewood Creek Elementary and take a step toward stopping the demand. The success of the SCTNow National Walk Campaign is entirely dependent on walkers, sponsors, and volunteers involved in raising funds in local communities all over the United States.
