'Ruth Dieterich Wagner Day' Slated for Aug. 7 in Honor of 100th Birthday

Wagner was named the Grand Marshal of Montgomery Fest in 2003.

In honor of Ruth Dieterich Wagner’s 100 birthday, the Village Board has designated Aug. 7 in her honor.

Wagner was born in Na-Au-Say Township on Aug. 7, 1912 to Herman and Hazel Armbruster and graduated from East Aurora High School in 1930. She married Leslie Dieterich and they raised their son, Thomas, at the family home on SE River Road in Montgomery . Les died in 1977 and Ruth later married Albert Wagner, who died in 2005.

Over the years Ruth Diederich Wagner has given countless hours of volunteer service to various organizations, including the Aurora Wayside Cross Board, the Aurora Historical Society, Family Counseling Service, Aurora YWCA, Jennings Terrace, Bardwell School PTA, United Way, the Kiwanis, the East Aurora School District and the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora. She was named a YWCA “Woman of Distinction” in 1980 and received the Aurora Kiwanis’ “Service to God and Man Award.” She also was named the Grand Marshal of Montgomery Fest in 2003.
