Montgomery's Fall Community Garage Sale Set for Sept. 13-15

The deadline to be included in the advertising of the event is 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

The Fall Community Garage Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 through Saturday, Sept. 15.

The fee to participate will be $10 per address.

Registration forms are available at the , 200 N. River St., and on the village website at www.ci.montgomery.il.us. The registration form gives the option of participating on all three of the scheduled dates, or selecting specific days to participate.

To be included in the village’s official map of the sale, and in the ads the village will take out in community newspapers, you need to sign up by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. Maps will be available at the Village Hall and on the village website starting Monday, Sept. 10.

The dates for this garage sale were chosen to coincide with Montgomery’s Fall Clean-Up service that will take place the week of Sept. 17. Unsold items from the garage sales can be disposed of free of charge on those dates. Remaining items in good condition can be dropped off at the Salvation Army store at 1590 Douglas Road or the Goodwill store in the Ogden Hill Shopping Center at routes 30 and 34.

This event is sponsored by Montgomery’s Historic Preservation Commission.

The $10 participation fee will go to preserving Settlers Cottage. The village’s oldest structure, Settlers Cottage was built around 1840 by Montgomery’s founder, Daniel Gray. It was slated for the wrecking ball in 2003, but a group of preservationists convinced the village to save it.

For additional information, call Debbie Buchanan at (630) 896-8080, Ext. 1114.

I'm pretty sure that prison is more detrimental to your health than smoking pot. That's the pointRead More here. Does Ernie have a financial stake in keeping pot illegal? The liquor industry, drug testing industry, and several police organizations (due to zero tolerance seizure laws) are lobbying as hard as they can to maintain the status quo. Many people will be affected in a shift to legalization. Maybe he has a profit motive?

Olddeegee, No financial stake on MY part. I don't know about others here, including you. For thoseRead More killed in DUI crashes, prison is not more harmful than smoking pot. For the guy killed while eating someone's face, prison would not have been more harmful. For the guy bulldozing the town, prison would not be more harmful.
