Oswego Resident Starts Petition to Close Retail Establishments on Holidays

"The corporate world that own or run these businesses get to have all the holidays off... why should the employees' families be any less important?

There has been plenty of chatter surrounding retail establishments decisions to open on Thanksgiving day (or early Thanksgiving!) rather than waiting for Black Friday to officially begin.

An Oswego resident has started a petition aimed at Walmart and Meijer to not be open during major holidays, like Thanksgiving.

Resident Kaylee Anderson writes:

"This is important to me because both my husband and I work in one of these two stores and we miss a lot of holidays due to always having to work.

This causes our daughter to miss out on family time due to our work schedules. I believe that they should shut down on ALL MAJOR HOLIDAYS. The corporate world that own or run these businesses get to have all the holidays off plus much more to spend with their families, why should the employees' families be any less important?

Let's show them all how we have families to and we should be with them."

If you agree, you can sign the petition here through Change.org.
