Yes the headline is correct. Google ICS4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is headed to everything and its brother. It seems the march into tablets and smart phones is in full swing and Apple is running to craft a more blended operating system..
Okay a blended OS is where you take a smart phone and a computer and, well, blend features (not hardware). The issue with this is for Macintosh users, they are getting scaled-down features and smart phone people are getting, well, scaled up features. The end result is PC hardware with features that are not up to traditional Apple levels for power users.
One great thing is when you blend it tends to allow more people to use the end product. I have also seen the pricing moving downward because more people will tend to understand and want to use the dumbed-down version which, while good for the general masses, it doesn’t help the Macintosh-loyal user out.

Google and the recently announced purchase of Motorola has got the smart phone and many tablet manufacturers working to craft that all new lower cost tablet (under $200) and feature-rich smart phones we all crave. Apple has lots of billions to lower the price points to keep the market share in the computer (Mac) side, and the phone companies will just keep moving more phones at great sign-on deals.
What does this mean? Well, the old Mac people will get slighted with compromised-for-the-masses computers, but more people will buy Macs. Apple will have a battle on its hands for tablets and phones, and the crystal ball tells me they will welcome more Mac sales to help build on that $90 billion war chest. So watch the Droid armies sell like crazy over the next 12 months, and watch for lower-cost Macintosh equipment soon, as Apple is now just an equipment company like all the rest, trying to get a share of your money.

CAW (Cool Application of Week) – Somewhere I got this cool DVD-shrinking software. It allows you to shrink the files down and resize them to watch on your tablet or smart phone. You should own the DVD, and some are difficult to convert because of encryptions, but I have used it for years to allow me to watch movies on those long flights. So do a Google for "DVD Shrink" or look at Softpedia.com and see if it helps you handle those long trips, or even the nightmare visits to Aunt Martha’s house.
