Back to School, lessons of life.

10 Years in the making

Hey Mom you stressed because Dad is stressed a little. You see this week was the return of my children back to Junior Year in College for my Daughter and Final year in High School for my Son.  Okay for many this would be a moment of “only one more year until empty nesters” or for others  “I’m getting old, and I’ll cry that cry of missing them” but for me it is “Oh my what type of job market will they have in a few years” fear.

After looking at the empty check book paying for College and private High School for 16+ years I’m looking at a future filled with shadows for my two very smart and bright young adults. I see the future for them filled with bumps, where those were filled to be smoother in the 70’s and 80’s when it came to finding the job that just was the job to last forever.

The facts are that our educated children will go through some 4+ jobs in the first ten years of employment. They will be searching for that right fit job that some enjoy today. I was a lucky one; I stumbled for a very short time until I woke one day to say “I’ll start my own business” and only wasted ten years figuring it all out. Wait it was ten years all the same just like the kids face today, so what is the point here Greg? Well the point is our kids are just like us, but we have this idea they should be more than us for some bizarre reason, you know “they should have it better than I did” mentality. So get over that notion people because that isn’t happening. The weird thing is it has been this way for, well ever.

So let us get them back to school, cross our fingers they find that perfect job so they too can have the same vexing questions asked in years to come. You know I love it when we finally will get to say “I told you so”!

CAW (Cool Application of Week)

So folks of the internet realm you may need to get a few updates here to stay safe. First off please update ADOBE Flash on every device. There is a nasty web thing going around and if you have flash get it updated (FAST)!  I use AVAST and AVG for my antivirus software here in the home computers. I find the free version is just enough to stay protected, but if you have kids that tend to go places they shouldn’t upgrade to the full version for more protection. One more is the new OUTLOOK.COM from Microsoft which is the new Hotmail, but way better. Okay those are the quickie CAW items for you this week.

Please stay tuned to this same station for more educational items that will – wait that sounds like WTTW channel 11 – SUBSCRIBE because education is part of the solution. Well it is!
