Santa Traveling by Fire Truck for Annual Holiday Parade

Santa won't be in his storied sleigh while he makes his way through Montgomery for part of this holiday season. The big man in the red suit will join Montgomery & Countryside Fire Protection District firefighters for the annual Santa Parade on Dec. 14.

Here are the details on how to see the jolly old elf, provided by the Montgomery Fire Department in a news release:

"The Montgomery & Countryside Fire Protection District is preparing for the Holiday Season. They will be holding their annual Santa Parade on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. Santa Claus will be escorted by the Fire Department throughout the Fire District on a Fire Truck. He will begin in the downtown portion of the Village at 8 a.m. He will then continue to the streets east of the river until approximately 10:00 a.m.

Santa will then visit the western portion of the Village and unincorporated portions of Aurora Township that are within the Montgomery & Countryside Fire District between 10:00 a.m and noon."

Montgomery & Countryside also is participating in Toys for Tots. Here's the skinny on how to donate:

"New unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the Fire Station at 198 S Railroad St. Toys will be accepted up until Dec. 18th. The firefighter’s will also provide curbside pick-up of any toy donations during the Santa Parade. Just come outside with your new unwrapped toys when you hear Santa coming down your street and we will stop to pick them up."
