River Run, Fall Fun Festival Event Coming to Montgomery Oct. 6

The day will include the ninth annual Montgomery 5K River Run and 3K Walk, plus a new 100 yard dash for the kids, as well as village's first Fall Festival, which will include a wide variety of craft, art and game stations.

Downtown Montgomery will be hosting a variety of family friendly fall events Saturday, Oct. 6.

First, runners and walkers are invited to participate in the ninth annual Montgomery 5K River Run and 3K Walk, plus a new 100 yard dash for the kids. Athletes of all ages and skill levels are welcome, as are strollers, pets and spectators. The course is USA Track and Field certified and runs along the scenic banks of the Fox River. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Runners can register online at signmeup.com, in person at Montgomery Village Hall, 200 N. River St., or on the day of the race.

At 10 a.m., family-friendly fall activities will start in Montgomery Park, at the corner of River and Mill Street. The Montgomery Arts Alliance and Community Christian Church are teaming up to host the village’s first Fall Festival, which will include a wide variety of craft, art and game stations. Participants are invited to stop at each table in the park to do a craft or play a game. There will be a Kool-Aid play-dough station, face painting, a pie-eating contest, mask-making, sidewalk chalk art, face painting, a bounce house and many other free, fun activities. Free coffee and popcorn will be available, plus additional food available for purchase. Activities at the park will wrap up at 3 p.m.

In case of rain or inclement weather, Fall Festival activities will be moved to Montgomery Village Hall. The River Run will proceed rain or shine. For more information on the River Run or the Fall Festival, call 630-896-8080, ext. 1117.
