Experience Stations of the Cross April 19

Area residents can experience elements of Jesus Christ's walk to his crucifixion, from pounding nails into wood to smelling and feeling an ointment similar to that used to wash his feet at the last supper.

A third annual interactive Stations of the Cross, 14 stations tracing Jesus Christ’s betrayal to crucifixion, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m.  on Saturday, April 19, at Fourth Street United Methodist Church, 551 S. Fourth St. in Aurora.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Replicas of Jesus' crucifixion, including a crown of thorns, will be displayed.

Fourth Street UMC pastor Rev. Deborah Tinsley Taylor said the church is taking a new approach to the traditional Stations of the Cross offered during Lent.

“The interactive Stations of the Cross invites participants to prayerfully walk through the events of Jesus’ betrayal and death." she said.

“We want to offer people a unique and personal way of entering into the mysteries of Christ’s passion.

“Walking through the Stations is a time of worship that creates real communion with Christ. It is a somber and inspirational experience,” Rev. Taylor said.
