Up to Six Inches of Snow Expected Thursday

The National Weather Service is predicting a snowstorm tomorrow that could leave up to six inches on the ground, and will be accompanied by strong winds of up to 35 miles per hour.

Looks like snow is finally on its way.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for tomorrow in nine counties, including Kane and Kendall. According to the watch, snow should start falling about midday tomorrow, and keep falling through Friday morning. And it could leave up to six inches on the ground.

We’re also expected to see strong winds, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour tomorrow evening and night. Which means some blowing and drifting snow, making travel more hazardous. And temperatures could drop to near zero.

This storm may seem all the more shocking after the unseasonably warm January we’ve been enjoying. Temperatures have been in the high 40s and low 50s, considerably above the usual January average high temperature of 30 degrees in the Aurora area, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

So bundle up, and get those snow shovels ready. And if you’re driving tomorrow, be careful out there.
