Trash Collection Days Set to Change Next Week

Allied Waste's new collection schedule goes into effect on Monday. Check the attached map to find out when your new day is.

Here’s a quick reminder for you: starting next week, your trash pickup day is likely going to change.

As part of a new contract approved in November, Allied Waste has restructured their pickup week in Montgomery. The previous contract found Allied workers picking up trash on Mondays and Wednesdays, but the new one will see four pickup days. And depending on where you live, your day may not be the same as it’s been.

Those west of Orchard Road and south of Route 30 will see their trash picked up on Mondays. Those west of Orchard but north of Route 30 will see their trash collected on Tuesday.

Wednesday will be pickup day for those on Douglas Road or east of it, to the village limits. And those between Orchard and Douglas will have their trash picked up on Thursdays.

Allied is also in the midst of distributing the new covered recycling carts to each home in the village. As part of the new contract, each home will get a 65-gallon cart, unless you requested a smaller or larger one before Jan. 23. If you missed that deadline, you’ll have to wait until August 1, and it’ll cost you a $40 fee to change your cart size.

According to village officials, Allied Waste has completed delivery of the new carts to everyone in the Monday pickup zone – meaning those west of Orchard and south of Route 30. They’re in the process of delivering to those in the Tuesday and Wednesday zones now. Allied is starting with the 65-gallon carts, and will come back around with the other sizes later.
