The Week That Was: March 14-20

A look at some of the stories you may have missed on Patch this week.

And that was Montgomery Patch, week five. It was quite a busy one.

We brought you lots of election coverage, including a story about the Oswego School Board candidates at Oswego East High. But you can head to our new Election Central page for that stuff. There was more going on than politics this week. Here’s a look at some stories you may have missed.

1. Famed conservationist and Oswego resident Dick Young . Young is the only person with forest preserves in both Kane and Kendall counties named after him.

2. The village of Montgomery to deal with its emerald ash borer problem. The money will be used to remove and replace 97 trees on the village’s west side.

3. Just more than two weeks after closing it for repairs, Aurora Township Highway Commissioner John Shoemaker last Friday. He still expects major repairs to the road, to be performed this year.

4. The Kendall County Sheriff’s bomb squad on Tuesday to investigate a suspicious object. It turned out to be just a decoration that had fallen from one of the cannons on display.

5. Two Montgomery men will face after a two-month investigation by the North Central Narcotics Task Force. Police confiscated a stolen rifle, which led to Montgomery Police charging one of the men with committing a recent robbery as well.
