The Week That Was: April 11-17, 2011

Here are some stories you may have missed over the past seven days.

And that was Montgomery Patch, week nine. This was a busy one—we gave you more than 40 different posts this week, and the news kept coming fast and furious. Here’s a quick look at some of the top stories, just in case you missed them:

1. Longtime community activist Mary Fultz was for the East Aurora School Board on Wednesday after information surfaced that she was not a registered voter at the time of the election. Fultz was the second-highest vote-getter in last Tuesday’s election. District officials say that if Fultz does not resign, they will pursue a court order to vacate her seat.

2. Speaking of schools, staff and parents in the Oswego School District on Wednesday about unsafe conditions on the district’s school buses.

3. Rep. Randy Hultgren, R-Winfield, introduced , which would deny senators and representatives their pay if they don’t pass a federal budget by the start of the fiscal year.

4. Montgomery trustees approved the for fiscal year 2012 on Monday by a vote of 4-2. Trustees Andy Kaczmarek and Pete Heinz voted against it. In other village government news, Deputy Clerk Helen Prester is in June, and the village is seeking two part-time employees to replace her.

5. And finally, a Montgomery writer and a North Aurora illustrator are part of the team behind the series of children’s books, and now they are looking for a dozen kids to make guest appearances in the third volume.
