More Snow Headed Our Way

The National Weather Service is predicting more snow and frigid temperatures for Friday. Here are some places to help you get warm.

Hope you’re in the mood for more snow, because it’s on its way.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for tomorrow, with snow continuing overnight into Saturday morning. As much as six inches of the white stuff could fall on our area, with the heaviest snowfall coming Friday afternoon and evening.

That means commutes on Friday afternoon will likely be treacherous. Make sure to check with Montgomery Patch's traffic center to see what the situation is before you hit the roads.

But that’s not all. The NWS is also predicting a high temperature of 20 degrees on Friday, with wind chill temperatures hitting five degrees below zero. So stay inside if you can, but if you must go out, be safe. Attached to this story, you’ll find a list of warming centers in Kendall County.

Both , at 200 N. River St., and the , at 10 Civic Center Avenue, can serve as warming centers. Village Hall is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the police station is open 24 hours a day, every day.

The city of Aurora has several warming centers as well:

Salvation Army, 437 E. Galena Blvd., (630) 897-7265. Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., (630) 859-8606. Hours: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; Closed Sunday.

Aurora Public Library Main Branch, 1 E. Benton Street, (630) 264-4100. Hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (only during the school year).

Aurora Public Library East Branch, 555 S. Eola Road, (630) 264-3400. Hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (only during the school year).

Aurora Public Library West Branch, 233 S. Constitution Drive, (630) 264-3600. Hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (only during the school year).

Also remember, to help village crews plow streets effectively, the parking ban will be in effect. No parking on the street when two or more inches of snow is on the ground.

The Fox Valley has practically just finished digging its way out from under last week’s storm, which saw several accidents (including ) and overall dangerous road conditions. While Friday’s snow doesn’t appear to be as intense, according to the NWS, we urge you to stay safe.
