Check Out the New Stuff on Patch

A new columnist joins the Montgomery Patch ranks this week, taking his place alongside our two (relatively) new features.

Hello, hello. Come on in. We’re doing some slight renovations, so pardon the dust. Just walk around that girder lying over there. That’s right, just step over. Watch your head. OK, good.

All right, so it’s not that bad. But we are going to be changing a couple of things here at Montgomery Patch this week, and I thought I’d let you know about them.

The first one you can see on our main page today. We’ve moved Jeff Long’s weekly Fox Valley Park District Happenings column to Fridays. The reasons are simple: we usually have Jeff’s column pretty early, and putting him on Fridays allows him to talk about that weekend’s events.

Plus, who wouldn’t want to start a summer weekend by reading about parks and trails? Come on now.

But what, you ask, will take Jeff’s slot on Sundays? I’m glad you brought it up, because two days from now, we’ll be introducing you to our new columnist, Carter Moss.

Carter is the pastor of in Montgomery. They’re a pretty forward-looking organization, using the and to reach people who might not set foot in a church otherwise. So we’ve invited Carter to share his thoughts on faith, and what that faith means in the real world.

His column is called Intersection: Where Faith Meets Life, and it’ll run every week. We’re hoping this will spark some discussion, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, and on Facebook.

Carter’s column joins a couple new features on Patch: , our daily look at the cheapest gas prices in the area; and , our Friday afternoon musical column from local troubadour Kevin Trudo. Look for a new song from Kevin every Friday at 2 p.m.

And we’ve got more ideas brewing. We’re always interested in what you have to say. What would you like to see on Montgomery Patch? We want this to be a site you return to again and again, so let us know what will keep you coming back.

And thank you. Now, watch your step on your way out. You’ll want to avoid the debris over there. Yes, there. Now, duck your head, and… there. You should be good to go.
