Water samples were to be submitted at room temperature and treated in the normally accepted manner for the particular community. Montgomery’s sample was drawn from the main tap at the water treatment plant. A panel of independent judges rated the water samples on taste, odor and clarity. Montgomery competed with nine other entries from communities throughout Kane County.

As the winner of the competition, Montgomery will represent the county at the Illinois Section American Water Works Association’s annual spring meeting this coming March in Springfield. In addition, the village’s name will be engraved on a traveling trophy which will be housed here in the Village for the next year, and a permanent plaque was awarded to the Village, which is on display at the water treatment plant.
