Montgomery Father and Son Cook Up Internet TV Show

Cooking With Luke stars six-year-old Luke Lockwood, and is produced by his father, business owner Bob Lockwood, whose Full Armour Studios creates webisodes for clients.

Julia Child. Emeril Lagasse. Guy Fieri. And now, Luke Lockwood?

OK, so the Montgomery six-year-old hasn’t quite joined the ranks of celebrity chefs yet. But with the help of his father, photographer and videographer Bob Lockwood, Luke has launched his own cooking show online. And though Cooking With Luke has only premiered two episodes to date, its star says he wants to host it for a long time.

The show came about as a way to promote Bob Lockwood’s business, Full Armour Studios. The business is as old as Luke, Bob said, but he’s only been running it on his own since last year.

He initially made his mark as a photographer—Montgomery residents may remember him as one of the winners of last summer’s , and yes, that’s Luke in the winning photo. But lately, he’s been incorporating more video services, including the creation of webisodes—informational films that are released online.

Bob wanted to show clients what a webisode (complete with commercials) would look like, and Luke was excited to have his own show. Hence, Cooking With Luke was born.

In the first episode, Luke shows how to make pigs in a blanket. And along the way, he learned a few things about video production—for instance, that the work isn’t done once the cameras stop rolling. 

“We took about 45 minutes to film it, and Luke said, ‘Let’s do that again next week,’” Bob said, laughing. “And I said, no, I still have to edit it.” 

Luke did enjoy one aspect of post-production: he ate most of the resulting pigs in a blanket.

“There were 47 on the plate, and he left me 12,” Bob laughed.

Luke is a student at East View Kindergarten Center in Oswego, and he said he hasn’t yet told his friends at school about his show. But in his second episode, he demonstrated how to turn broken crayons into multicolored hearts with a muffin tin and an oven, and he plans to distribute those hearts at school on Valentine’s Day.

Bob Lockwood is hoping Cooking With Luke will be a good marketing tool for his business, but he’s also glad he gets to spend time with his son, doing something they both enjoy.

“I think I want to do it for a long time,” Luke said.
