A popular local comedy troupe has a new home—at in Montgomery.
Since September 2009, the eight-member Comedy Under the Tap group has been entertaining audiences at Oswego’s Tap House Grill. But on March 6, they will bring their show to Montgomery, debuting under a new name: Comedy on the Fox.
According to Gray’s Mill general manager Debra Metzinger, the arrangement started when the troupe’s executive producer, Amelia Kleymann, visited the mill in January. Gray’s Mill occupies a structure built in 1858, spanning five floors.
Kleymann loved the third floor, particularly the White Rose Room, Metzinger said, and as they started talking, they realized that a comedy show would be a good use of the extra space. The move takes the troupe “from a basement to a third-floor showroom with more space,” Kleymann wrote in a press release.
The shows are 21-plus, but Metzinger said discussions about a weekend family matinee are underway. Kleymann did not return calls for comment.
Comedy on the Fox shows will begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5, with a two-item minimum from the menu. Food and drink are available in the showroom.
The March 6 show is already sold out. For reservations to future shows, call 630-517-0003, or visit www.comedyonthefox.com.
