Video: American Legion Band Plays in Aurora

Though inclement weather forced Thursday's Concert in the Park inside the Prisco Center, the American Legion Band still entertained.

Last Thursday night, area residents tapped their toes to the American Legion Band in Aurora.

The concert was originally set to be outdoors in McCullough Park, but due to possible inclement weather, patrons were happy to move inside to the well air-conditioned Prisco Community Center.

The band played patriotic favorites, including "The Star Spangled Banner," "America the Beautiful," and "Stars and Stripes Forever." They mixed up the program by playing a few classics like "Amazing Grace," and the crowd favorite of the night, a Wizard of Oz medley.

Penny Cameron, grandmother of a band trombonist, said that concerts like these are great because “they are all-ages, and provide a venue for people to come together and be patriotic, and support the Armed Forces.” Cameron has five uncles, all in different branches of the military.

This concert was a part of Fox Valley Park District’s free Concerts in the Park series. The next (and final) concert will feature the Saturday June Band on Thursday, August 4 at 7:30 in McCullough Park.
