Without You I'm Nothing

Your faithful editor wants to see Patch become a place where the Montgomery community connects and shares ideas. And he needs your help to do it.

Montgomery Patch has been around for just more than six months now. I’m still enjoying writing it, and I hope you’re enjoying reading it.

I work pretty hard to make this your one-stop online spot for news about the village of Montgomery, and I hope I’m succeeding. But the site isn’t quite what I want it to be yet. It’s still a little too much me, and I’d like it to be a lot more you.

You see, without you, Patch doesn’t work. Sure, I want this to be your number one news site, particularly when it comes to local events and politics. But I also want it to be a place where people can come together to talk ideas, share thoughts, tell each other about cool things going on, and talk about what’s great (and not so great) about living in Montgomery.

There’s a bunch of ways to do this already. First and foremost, you can comment on every story. If something you read on Patch makes you want to start a conversation, then do it! I’d love to see that happen more often.

If you know of something that should be covered on Patch, you can let me know anytime. I’m at andre.salles@patch.com, and at 630-414-5670. I promise you this: if a story close to your heart hasn’t been given its due here, it’s not because I don’t care about it. Most likely, it’s because I don’t know about it. So drop me a line and clue me in.

You can post your own announcements and events on Patch without my help, too. Attached to this story is a clever video showing you how it’s done. You can rate every business in town, and talk about why you feel the way you do about them. You can post your own photos and videos too. If you see something I missed, and you get a picture, feel free to put it onto the site.

You can also nominate a Whiz Kid. I’d like to bring that feature back, but so far, no one has written me to tell me about an amazing kid. I know they’re out there, and I think they deserve the spotlight. is a column I wrote about Whiz Kid a couple of weeks ago.

I really want to know what you’d like to see on Patch, and how I can help make this a place where people connect – not just with the news of their community, but with each other. Patch is all about you, and without you, it’s nothing. So please come be a part of what we’re doing here. And thank you.
