Weekend Grab Bag: Art Fairs, Markets and a Car Show

What fun are you going to pull out this weekend and beyond? Local events abound in the Patch lands of Montgomery, Oswego and Yorkville.

Saturday, August 20

Farmers' Market, Town Square Park, Yorkville
The Scoop: Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon through Oct. 29.
Inside Info: Offerings include farm-grown vegetables, baked goods and fresh roasted coffee.

Design Exchange Home Decor Sale, Kendall County Fairgrounds, Yorkville
The Scoop: The Design Exchange is an annual home decor consignment sale. Consignors bring their best like-new home decor items for you to shop. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.
Inside Info: Most items are 30 percent off from 2 to 4 p.m.

Book Sale, , 32 W. Jefferson St., Oswego
The Scoop: Friends of the Library's annual book sale! Both fiction and non-fiction books for youth and adults will be available to purchase. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Inside Info: Friends of the Library provide funds to the library to host author visits, to purchase items such as computers, audio-visual shelving, microfilm machine, copy machine and more. They also host the Read and Return program which delivers books to senior centers on a bi-weekly basis.

Oswego Fine Art Fair, Main Street in downtown Oswego
The Scoop: The Village of Oswego invites you to a weekend of shopping at its eighth annual fine art fair. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free.
Inside Info: The juried art show features photography, mixed media, fiber, sculpture, glass, pottery, watercolor, oil, acrylic, jewelry and wood. Music and food, too.

Soul Fest, May Street Park off of Highland Avenue, Aurora
The Scoop: The annual event showcases soul food, music games and prizes for children. $12 meal ticket costs for adults and kids hot dog plates for $1.50. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free.
Inside Info: The Black Business Expo part of the event is in conjunction with the Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce.

Sunday, August 21

Oswego Country Market, Downtown Main Street, Oswego
The Scoop: Every Sunday through September, this fresh-air market is full of locally grown produce, meat, eggs, fresh flowers, specialty food items and more. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Inside Info: Look for Tom's Organic Produce for farm-fresh summer treats.

Oswego Fine Art Fair cont., Main Street in downtown Oswego
The Scoop: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.

Day at the Farm, Dickson-Murst Farm, Montgomery
The Scoop: The event will feature a petting zoo, child-friendly activities, hay rides, music, antique dealers and a display of antique tractors and farm equipment. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.
Inside Info: The Conservation Foundation saved the farm so locals could enjoy it. Dickson-Murst Farm Partners have run the days on the farm for the last three years. 

Auto Row Car Show, LaSalle Street, Aurora
The Scoop: This downtown car show is one-of-a-kind and not to miss! Great cars, people and food. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free.
Inside Info: LaSalle Street is one of the most historical streets in Aurora; the former "Auto Row" is a dream for history and/or architectural buffs.
