Still Looking For More Good Local Bloggers

In which your faithful editor makes a personal plea for more people to blog on his site.

So if I had three wishes, they’d go like this: $500 million, an unlimited music collection, and a few more good local bloggers on Montgomery Patch.

Yes, that’s how badly I want more bloggers. And if the genie with the voice of Robin Williams lets me break that down even further, and get a little more specific, here’s what I would say.

I would like a sports blogger, I’d say, someone plugged into the local high school sports scene, with an insight into what’s important to the Montgomery community. Because I know nothing about sports, and would like some of that on my site, please.

I would love to find someone to blog about parenting. We’ve got Moms Talk, and that’s great—Marissa Amoni and our Moms Council do a splendid job of coming up with topics relevant to parents, and debating them. But I’d like more. I want someone to post a few times a week about the joy and trials of parenting.

Similarly, I’d be happy to find a high school student willing to blog about the ups and downs of modern teenage life.

I’d like a religion blogger. Someone who can reflect on issues of faith without endorsing one religion over another. I think a strong dose of the spiritual would be a good addition to the site.

And I’d love to find an arts blogger, someone who can scope out the local scene and let us know where to find the great local music, painting, sculpture, poetry, anything artistic happening around here.

These are just my top priorities. I’m open to anything, though. Patch has set up a terrific system to allow anyone with some expertise and a point of view to reach an audience. And we’ve got some good ones already: “village geek” Greg Nelson, Trustee Stan Bond, and pharmacist Larry Frieders.

But I would like to see more. I’d like to see bloggers contributing to Montgomery Patch every day, if possible, sparking conversation on a variety of topics. Bloggers don’t get paid, alas, but they do get to own their work, and they get to share that work with the thousands of people who read this site.

So what do you say? Want to make my wish come true? Shoot me an email at andre.salles@patch.com. And thank you.
