“Spies of the Civil War” Presentation at Montgomery Village Hall

This program is offered by the Village of Montgomery as part of its Senior Citizen Program and is being sponsored by The Tillers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the village of Montgomery.

A free presentation on “Spies of the Civil War” will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Montgomery Village Hall. Jim Weren, a local artist and researcher on the Civil War, will present this entertaining and informative program.

At the onset of the conflict, neither the North nor South was prepared to obtain the vital information it needed about its enemy. The Civil War spy had to be willing, brave and intelligent to avoid capture.  Amateurs were welcome and became the core of spy systems.  The study of Civil War spies and spying explores the unique personalities, spying styles and adventures of the men and women who risked their lives to serve their nation’s cause.
