Photo Gallery: VFW Memorial Day Service

Members of Montgomery's Post 7452 held their annual remembrance at Riverside Cemetery on Monday.

The weather was perfect Monday morning, as about 200 people congregated at Riverside Cemetery on River Street in Montgomery for the annual Memorial Day service.

Montgomery's Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7452 has organized the remembrance for more years than most can remember. Under the guidance of Commander Vern Weber, VFW members presented colors, laid wreaths before the cemetery's massive war memorial, and fired off a 21-gun salute.

And as "Taps" played out across the field, veterans, their families and those there to honor them stood silently, hands on hearts, and remembered.
