Oswego 5K Raises Awareness for People with Disabilities

There's still time to register or sign up as a volunteer for the Celebrate Differences "Steps Toward a Brighter Future" race.

Celebrate Differences, an Oswego nonprofit that supports individuals with disabilities, will host its third annual "Steps Toward a Brighter Future" 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 27.

The CARA-certified, professionally timed race takes runners through the heart of downtown Oswego. Participants who aren't up for a 5K can opt for the "Mile for Smiles" or "Kids Fun Run" races. The Kids Fun Run is not timed.

Registration fees are $35 for the 5K now through March 31. The 5K fee is $40 starting April 1. Fee for the Kids Fun Run is $10. Race-day registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the race site, 61 Franklin St. in Oswego.

Race packet and T-shirt pickup is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 25, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Road Runner Sports, 2555 W. 75th St. in Naperville.
