Introducing Our 'I Heart Montgomery' Contest

Why do you love Montgomery? Answer for a chance to win a gift certificate to a local restaurant, and to be interviewed for an upcoming Patch column.

We want to know why you heart Montgomery.

We here at Patch have a million reasons. Montgomery is a vibrant community that is sometimes forgotten between Aurora and Oswego, but has so much to offer.

The picturesque Virgil L. Gilman trail is a great way to get to know Montgomery as it takes trail users along its scenic waterways and through its quiet downtown. A new is preparing for future growth that residential and commercial developments are bringing to the old factory town.

Orchard Road and Route 30 offers convenient shopping close to many new housing developments. Montgomery Road continues to be a gateway through town from the strip malls and indoor skating fun at Hill Avenue to Anderson Farm Stand and Montgomery Market at Douglas Road.

But really Montgomery is about getting outside and having fun. The village teams up with Fox Valley Park District to hold Concerts in the Park at Montgomery Park located at the corner of Mill and River Streets. Free family-friendly events are held on select weekends at Dickson-Murst Farm on Route 30 and Dickson Road; bluegrass jam is Sept. 18.

On the second weekend in August, the town comes alive for Montgomery Fest – a good time, carnival fun. In the fall, Montgomery is situated near plenty of pumpkin patches, and Oktoberfest on Oct. 1 brings the community together for a river run.
