Get Out: Spoken Word, Zines and Bike Rides

Our weekly look at the best places to go for weekend fun.

It's Thursday, and you have no idea what to do for the weekend. Fear not, Patch is here. Check out our list of fun events happening over the next three days:

1. SPOKEN WORD AND JAZZ SHOW
Where/When: Community 4:12, 75 S. LaSalle St., upstairs; Saturday, March 26 from 8 to 11 p.m.
Why Go: Here the best spoken performance art in Chicagoland. Music, food and goodie bags, too.
Price: $10/admission at the door

2. CHICAGO ZINE FESTWhere/When: Conaway Center, Columbia College; Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26. See website for hours and additional locations.
Why Go: You know those cute, funny and sometimes sinister pages that are stapled together? They're not pamplets and not quite a magazine. Well, there will be lots of them for sale accompanied by their writers and artists.
Price: Free.

3. BUILDING THE BURLINGTON RAILROAD ELEVATION
Where/When: Aurora Regional Fire Museum, 53 N. Broadway, Aurora; Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Gerald Hamsmith gives a historic talk about the railroad, presented by Aurora Historical Society.
Price: $5/person, $3 for members of the Aurora Historical Society.

4. MR. JOHNSON
Where/When: , 283 Montgomery Road, Montgomery; Saturday, March 26 at 9 p.m.
Why Go: They say they'll rock the house with live and heavy music.
Price: Free.

5. CRITICAL MASS BIKE RIDE
Where/When: West Aurora High School parking lot; Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Ride the roads with fellow bicyclists and feel secure as a pack.
Price: Free.
